Apple Watch Series 9 & 10: Apple’s Smartwatches Highlighted by Health Features and Gesture Technology

Posted on July 4, 2026July 4, 2026 by j3m1

Apple has once again reinforced its position as a leader in the wearable industry with the launch of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Series 10, now equipped with a range of cutting-edge features. It’s not just the elegant design that draws attention, but also innovations such as the double tap gesture and the largest display ever used on an Apple Watch. The Apple Watch is no longer just a smartwatch—it has become an essential part of modern lifestyle.

Double Tap Innovation: Touch-Free Control

One of the most revolutionary updates in the Apple Watch Series 9 is the introduction of the double tap gesture. This feature allows users to control various functions without touching the screen. By simply tapping the thumb and index finger of the same hand together, users can answer calls, play music, or snooze alarms.

It’s especially useful when your hands are busy—whether carrying shopping bags, riding a motorcycle, or holding a child. Apple describes this as a more “natural” way of interacting with technology, something not yet found in other smartwatches.

More Powerful Performance

To support all these smart functions, Apple has equipped the new watches with the S9 SiP (System in Package), featuring a faster and more energy‑efficient processor. Inside, it houses a 4‑core Neural Engine, enabling machine learning tasks to run twice as fast compared to the previous generation.

This combination delivers snappier responses, smoother animations, and more accurate health data processing—making the Apple Watch experience feel both seamless and intelligent.

Long-Lasting Battery Life

Despite the significant performance boost, Apple has managed to maintain battery life at up to 18 hours—and even longer when using Low Power Mode.

Apple Watch Series 10: Bigger Display, Tougher Design

Alongside the Series 9, Apple also introduced the Apple Watch Series 10, which brings the most dramatic changes in physical design.

The display size has been expanded to 1,220 mm² on the 46 mm version and 989 mm² on the 42 mm version, making it the largest screen ever used on an Apple Watch.

Slimmer Bezels, Stronger Build

The thinner bezels give the Apple Watch a modern, spacious, and premium look. Its body is crafted from new materials that are more impact-resistant, making it ideal for outdoor activities and active users.

Advanced Health Monitoring

Apple continues to position the Apple Watch as a personal health companion. In Series 9 and 10, the sensors have been upgraded for greater accuracy in tracking:

  • Heart rate
  • Blood oxygen levels (SpO₂)
  • ECG (electrocardiogram)
  • Body temperature
  • Stress levels
  • Estimated blood pressure (currently in clinical testing)

These features help users stay more aware of their daily health conditions. Apple has also introduced an AI system called Health Insights, which provides personalized recommendations based on health data and sleep patterns.

Stylish Design, Environmentally Friendly

As always, the Apple Watch comes in a variety of colors and materials, including recycled aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium. The latest series also introduces watch bands made from recycled carbon fiber, along with special editions in collaboration with Nike and Hermès.

Apple emphasizes that the entire new Apple Watch lineup is produced with a carbon‑neutral footprint, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainability. Certain models also support eSIM (cellular), allowing users to make calls and access the internet without needing to be connected to an iPhone.
